I SAFEMOOR
The current methods for mooring integrity management are not delivering. Across the O&G sector mooring line failure rates are 25 times higher than targets set by code guidance.
The UK Government has set a target of 5GW of floating offshore wind installed by 2030. This would be the equivalent of around 1,000 mooring lines. With the equivalent of 3 to 6 failures a year per 1,000 lines there is a substantial unmitigated risk to any business case.
Crondall Energy are in the process of developing SAFEMOOR, a “one stop shop” for mooring integrity management encompassing the full life cycle of a mooring system (from design thru manufacturing, installation and operation).
Utilising a combination of subject matter experts, low cost off the shelf sensors, machine learning and data analytics SAFEMOOR aims to reduce the risk of mooring line failure by an order of magnitude or more and associated OPEX by more than 40%.
Crondall Energy's SAFEMOOR has been identified as an innovative solution by ORE Catapult and has been selected to be part of their Launch Academy 2024. The Launch academy is ORE Catapults flagship technology accelerator program, designed to enhance the UK's offshore wind supply chain, enable greater UK content and support cost reduction by identify innovative solutions to real industry problems.
